Making a living as a screenwriter / director

Recently I hosted a show called The Circuit, which was about the future of indie filmmaking.

Someone in the audience asked a question about why it’s so difficult to get your grant applications taken seriously.

Because of this, I’ve been thinking of writing a “Guide To Grant Writing For Artists” for a while now.

And guess what…

You’ll get it this Friday… for free. (UPDATE Jan 2019: Here it is.)

Yes, I’m indefatigable. 🙂

More recently, an indiefilmTO student recently asked me how he can make a living as a screenwriter.

This is what I had to say:

I’m not the type that will lie to you for mollification just because the truth is harsh.

By the way, I’m curious — what would YOU have said to him? Hit reply and let me know.

PS: I love getting emails from you. Honestly, look at this:

Email from an indiefilmTO student saying: "There is ton of crap out there, but looking at some of your emails, content compilation there is a touch of real stuff and things that are real human - something missing from the art of filmmaking today."

Let me know if my emails have been adding value to you, and in what way specifically. I work on indiefilmTO virtually non-stop from when I wake up, until I sleep…

Because changing the world in important.

Because what YOU do is important.

There’s needless suffering out there, and if I can help mitigate it, I will.
