Look out for Alexia Rosa’s “I Hope You Know”

Keep an eye out for Canadian-filmmaker Alexia Dalla Rosa’s directorial debut I Hope You Know — an upcoming LGBTQ short film entirely self-funded by its director.

The story is set in Northern Ontario and revolves around its protagonist Sara; we watch her struggle after losing her boyfriend, Thomas, to suicide.

Sara is accompanied by Thomas’s childhood friend, Jane, at his funeral. The two girls must rely on each other to get through their grief, insecurities, and find answers to questions they both hold.

Aspiring female filmmakers will feel encouraged learning that Dalla Rosa’s production crew was primarily comprised of women — including the director, writer, director of photography and editor.

We look forward to seeing your film in the summer.

Director’s Statement

It wasn’t so much as pulling the trigger to write this script, I didn’t know it was in me until it was being written… I just knew I wanted to write a script whatever that meant. It came to me about 3 years ago, I was at a time in my life where I was feeling really uninspired and really like a bullshit artist for lack of better words -I knew I wanted to write something.

I was inspired by a song, I hope you know from an artist Jake Symes. The lyrics were beautiful and the feeling of the song dug deep. It reminded me of a tough time in my own life and the characters just spilled out.
