Every Film Networking Event in Toronto under $10 (2015 Edition)
NOTE: If you would like your event listed below, email outreach@indiefilmTO.com with the subject “Networking Events.”
Getting a crew to work with you for free is tough. It’s like going to hooker on Yonge street, “I can’t pay but you’ll get full credit for the job, and I’m pretty sure there’ll pizza.” The potential crew member will say “go fund yourself” and the lady of the night will say the same thing substituting a letter somewhere.
The first step is getting someone to believe in your vision (and we’re going to be doing an in depth article on Getting a Crew That Believes in Your Vision Enough To Work For Free soon so sign up if you want access).
In the mean time if you wanna just make connections and find out what’s going on in the Toronto indie film scene, then head over to the events listed below. It’s great way to meet eccentric people in the biz, for example, I met the writer who penned the first draft of “12 Years of ‘Oh Behave!’” The only thing that survived future drafts were the liberal use of whips. True story.

indiefilmTO’s “Dream Film Exhibit”
Do you remember those University fairs where a bunch of different colleges/universities had booths set up and you would walk around and see what they had to offer before joining? Well indiefilmTO will be holding an event where filmmakers/producers sit behind little booths, and you as an actor, a cameraman, a grip, etc, get to walk around and choose which film you want to be a part of. Sort of a reverse audition!
The filmmakers will be set up with a little poster of the movie they plan on creating as well as with info on genre, synopsis, timeline etc, and you choose if you feel like it’s right for you based on the personality match and if you believe in their vision.
RSVP now if you’re interested by entering your email address and name here for more info.

Not bad you guys. I’m a cinematographer in Toronto, and I’m always interested in going to idie film events. It’s a good sign your team puts these things together. Maybe, we can work together in the future.
I like the new list No one can accuse of being in the pay of Raindance now! Although, I still think you guys are.
